Semen analysis is basically the measurement of the quantity of semen produced by a man. This test is essentially to done to determine the quantity as well as the quality of the sperm in the ejaculated semen. The test is one of the best ways to determine if a man is suffering from infertility problems. Therefore, it is ideally conducted when a man is incapable to impregnate a woman within 6-12 months of regular unprotected sex. It has been observed that the problem of infertility affects more than one-third of men around the world. The test significantly reveals information on the volume of the semen released after ejaculation. It also reveals the precise liquefaction time of the semen. In other words, the test is conducted to determine the time required by the released semen to develop in a clear and liquid form from its sticky and foamy appearance. It also tells the number of sperms present in the semen. In addition, it gives the information on the number of sperms with normal shape and size. This information essentially proves beneficial at determining the abnormalities in the sperms. At last, pH factor better known as the alkalinity of the semen can also be detected with the help of semen analysis. |
