Revatio General Information
Revatio is basically a selective inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-specific phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5). Revatio is available in two forms: tablets or injections. It is available as white, film-coated round tablets and is equivalent to 20 mg of sildenafil for oral administration. Apart from the active ingredient, sildenafil citrate, these tablets also contain some inactive ingredients such as microcrystalline cellulose, anhydrous dibasic calcium phosphate, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, lactose monohydrate, and triacetin. In fact Revatio in the form of injection consists of a clear, colorless, sterile, and ready to use solution containing 10 mg (12.5 mL) of sildenafil. Revatio contains the same ingredients as does VIAGRA or sildenafil, which is used for the purpose of treating erectile dysfunction or impotence. Thus it is advised not to take Revatio along with VIAGRA or some other PDE5 inhibitors. Besides, Revatio is also known to cause increased blood pressure in some patients. This it is really crucial to have your blood pressure and pulse monitored regularly while taking Revatio. A person must also avoid hazardous activities after the consumption of Revatio. This is because Revatio may cause dizziness, difficulty concentrating, or restlessness. |
