HIV and immune system

Structurally HIV is similar to other viruses. HIV has a genetic material in its core and is surrounded by capsid. Capsid is the protective outer coating of HIV. The core of the HIV contains RNA (Ribonucleic acid). RNA is genetic material which keeps important information for the HIV to replicate and execute many functions. Reverse transcriptase is a protein found in RNA. Reverse transcriptase is responsible for the viral replication inside the T cells. T cells are present the white blood cells which plays vital role in the immune system.HIV targets the T cells and weakens the immune system. HIV can also infect the B cells, macrophages and monocytes. T cells have the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) which contains important information regarding the functions of the cells. The HIV takes control over the T cells which is a vital part of the immune system of the body. The HIV virus replicates itself in the T cell’s nucleus. It gets attached to the T cell’s nucleus like a bug in computer virus and regulates it according to its wish. It is also considered to be a retrovirus as it has the ability to transform the RNA into a DNA. The T cell which was the leading coordinator of the immune system gets neutralized by the HIV and makes the body vulnerable to opportunistic infections.
