Health experts believe that that estrogen is food for endometriosis. Estrogen is responsible for making the lining of the uterus thick. And in the 2nd phase of the menstrual cycle there is fall in the levels of estrogen which leads to shedding of the lining and thus you get your periods.

Thus, for women suffering from endometriosis, when hormone therapy is used for controlling endometriosis lesion, it is seen that estrogen is restricted. However, only mild and moderate form of endometriosis can be treated using this hormone therapy. For those with severe trouble, it is vital to go for surgery.It is seen that when estrogen production is stopped with tablets or hormone therapy, the endometriosis lesion is managed and controlled for a while. But again when normal menstrual cycle starts, the problem also starts. And that’s why experts believe that since post menopause estrogen secretion gets restricted in the body, there is regression of endometriosis lesion also.
