In one of the studies taken up in regards to libido in men and women it was seen that women have more chances of having lower libido as compared to men. Many women suffer from low libido in the United States and as per the details published in The American Medical Association this disorder can be termed as female sexual arousal disorder.
The physical causes for low libido in women include anemia, drug abuse, smoking habits, alcoholism, ailments like diabetes, hypertension, certain medications like tranquillizers, and hormonal changes after delivery. Many people believe that menopause can cause low libido. But one of the studies contradicts this and says that menopause is not connected with libido.
Anxiety, depression, stress at work, stress in relationship, sexual abuse in childhood or in the past, family problems contribute in loss of libido in women.
It would be vital to talk about this problem with the partner and also with the healthcare provider. It is important to note that since loss of libido deals with emotions and thus this issue will require partner’s support. Normal libido returns back but it takes some time and there are no quick fixes for the same.
